JFE Steel Recognized as 2023 Steel Sustainability Champion
JFE Steel announced today that it has been named a 2023 Steel Sustainability Champion by the World Steel Association (worldsteel) in recognition of the company’s leadership in helping to create greater sustainability in the steel industry and society.
JFE Steel has been developing innovative technologies to mitigate environmental impact and published the JFE Group Environmental Vision for 2050. The company informs stakeholders about its sustainability policies and achievements across a range of areas, including environment, human rights, health and safety, through publications such as the JFE Group CSR Report 2022. Recognition of these efforts led to the company being selected as a 2023 Steel Sustainability Champion for the third consecutive year.
To ensure sustainability, it is becoming increasingly important for companies to address wider challenges in areas such as environment, society and governance and to respond to emerging opportunities and challenges. JFE Steel identifies core management issues (materiality), sets key performance indicators (KPIs), and continually updates them.
Looking ahead, JFE Steel plans to continue contributing to collective efforts to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by strengthening the company’s CSR management practices and working to help resolve environmental and other issues in society through its business.
