JFE Steel Corporation

JGreeX
MoNo Factory to Use JFE Steel’s JGreeX Green Steel
to Produce Pinback Buttons

JFE Steel announced today that its JGreeX green steel will be used in pinback buttons (can badges) produced and sold by MoNo Factory, marking the first use of JGreeX in consumer products as well as tin-plated steel.

Green steel products significantly reduce CO2 emissions from the steelmaking process. JFE Steel uses the mass balance approach to allocate reductions, achieved through the use of CO2 emissions-reduction technologies, to specific steel products.

Tin-plated steel processed by MoNo Factory has a beautiful metallic luster and offers excellent corrosion resistance, weldability and other beneficial properties. The company uses this steel material for food and beverage cans, including large 18-liter cans and artistic cans, plus in a wide range of other fields including electrical parts, as well as pinback buttons.

JFE Steel is working closely with MoNo Factory and other customers to provide JGreeX green-steel materials that contribute to decarbonization in diverse fields. JFE Steel is also striving to increase awareness of green steel’s advantages and value among consumers and society at large, with the ultimate goal of contributing to a carbon-neutral world.

As the push toward carbon neutrality accelerates, MoNo Factory is creating value and raising awareness through pinback buttons bearing messages that everyday consumers can relate to. The company selected JGreeX in recognition of its environmental value in significantly reducing CO2 emissions from steelmaking.
