JFE Steel and GMH Holding Reach Technical Collaboration Agreement on Steel
Products for Energy Field Mainly Focused on Steel Bars
Tokyo – JFE Steel Corporation has concluded an agreement with Georgsmarienhütte Holding GmbH of Germany referred to as GMH Holding hereinafter (Head Office in Georgsmarienhütte of Germany; CEO Mr. Peter van Hüllen) concerning technical collaboration on steel products mainly focused on steel bars to be used for energy field typically for wind power.
Back in 2002 JFE Steel and GMH Holding concluded a comprehensive collaboration agreement concerning special steel bars for automotive industry and its components makers including bearing manufacturers. Since then we have been collaborating closely by mutual technical exchange in order to deal with globalization of the automotive industry. We are going to further widen this existing friendly relationship through exchange of the latest technology information, joint R&D and licensing of technology as related to steel products for energy field mainly focused on steel bars involving steel companies, forging companies etc. belonging to GMH Holding.
With growing utilization and development in recent years of the CO2 emission free natural energies in the background, a substantial increase is foreseen in the demand for new energies such as wind power. GMH Holding owns several companies who are involved in wind power generation and these companies have high technical capabilities for manufacturing of materials for bearings etc. We, JFE Steel and GMH Holding, will continue providing our customers with high quality steel products such as steel bars and related services by further improving mutual technical capabilities through the new collaboration agreement which has been just signed and also by firmly securing the demand in the new energy field.
