JFE Steel Corporation has been awarded five-years (maximum nine-years) Frame Agreements for the supply of SAW (Large Diameter Welded Steel Pipes) Carbon Linepipes and 12% Chrome Seamless Linepipe by Statoil ASA (Statoil), a Norwegian Oil and Gas Company.
Statoil is Scandinavia's leading energy company. Headquartered in Norway, Statoil has a presence in more than 30 countries globally. Statoil is continuing to expand their operation area from the Norwegian Continental Shelf to international markets.
Because the large diameter linepipes supplied under the Frame Agreements will be used for long distance sub-sea pipelines, mainly in Europe and the North Sea, they must meet low temperature toughness requirements and have the heavy wall thickness and high strength to withstand operations under high pressure. For services near the wellhead area where anti-corrosive properties are also required, 12% Chrome seamless pipes are used.
We achieved the award of these contracts because of our proven capability to meet these very severe requirements, the quality of our high grade pipes, and our experience of production for similar large pipeline projects . The outline of the contracts is as follows:
| Products | Contract Parties |
| Large Diameter Steel Pipe | : Metal One Corporation |
| 12% Chrome Seamless Pipes | : Marubeni Itochu Steel Inc. |

JFE Steel will continue to develop and supply high quality pipes to be used in oil and natural gas developments where a more severe environment is expected.
