Synopsis :
The measuring method of Fe content and coating weight of galvannealed steel sheet has been developed using diffractometer which has a parallel beam optical system. Many peaks of diffracted X-rays which show ƒÂ1(103), ƒ¡(633), ƒÅ(004), ƒ¿-Fe(200) and so on have been found in the range of 2ƒÆ=90‹`150‹(by Cr-Kƒ¿). Intensities of these peaks, i.e., IƒÂ1, 1ƒ¡, IƒÅ are closely related to Fe content, and Iƒ¿-FO has a very close correlation with coating weight. Two calibration curves for Fe content and coating weight, which have been regression analyzed using 1ƒ¡ and Iƒ¿-FO as variables, give the higher measuring accuracy by mean-square errors of 0.6% for Fe content and 2.5g/m2 for coating weight.
