Synopsis :
Critical lap length and reinforcing method of lap splices for RIVER CON D51 were experimentally studied. The effect of lap length and lateral reinforcing method on bond and crack properties of lap splices was examined by axially loaded test, and the effect of shearing forces in addition to others mentioned above by flexure test. As a result of experiments it was made clear that, with bars of D16 arranged at intervals of 15cm as lateral reinforcement and the lap length of 25ƒÓ, the lap splices for RIVER CON D51 withstood the design load sufficiently. It was further confirmed by the flexure test that, with bars of D16 arranged at intervals of 10cm as lateral reinforcement, the lap splices were strong enough up to the ultimate load of the RC beam, even if the lap length was 20ƒÓ.
