Synopsis :
KTM is an enamelling steel sheet newly developed by Kawasaki Steel Corp. This article describes its characteristics, important metallurgical factors influencing the enamelling properties, the press formability and some important points in steelmaking process. In conventional enamelling steel sheet made of rimmed steel, fishscale is apt to occur at the edge part of the steel sheet (rim layer) and it is difficult to prevent. KTM has no such problem, since it is made of killed steel containing boron. The press formability is same as, or superior to, SPCC grade.
