Chemical Structural Studies on Some Coking Coals (Hidetaro Tanihara) |
Synopsis : Some coking coals, carbonized at temperatures up to 800℃, have been examined by infrared methods and elemental analysis. The most marked changes in the coals by heating to between 500℃ and 600℃ were a loss of aliphatic materials and relative enrichment of aromatic materials. It is suggested that aromatic materials in the coals are stable a temperatures up to 500℃. Chemical structures of an Australian bituminous coal, South Bulli, are slightly different from those of an American bituminous coal, Itmann. |
