Multipurpose Turbine for Blower and Generator

Katsunori Yoshida, Hideki Takano, Kenzo Yamaguchi
Synopsis :
This plant has realized stable blast blowing through CDQ (coke dry quenching) waste heat recovery boiler. Since the CDQ steam, owing to variation in its generation, normally needs support of steam from another boiler in case of applying it to blast blowing turbine steam, we have adopted a system consisting of a turbine, blower and generator with a motoring function and succeeded in absorbing the variation into electricity. The steam-mixing and extraction turbine is possible to do the demand and supply control of process steam with supplying power to the blast blower and plays an important role in efficient use of waste-heat recovery steam at steelworks. Normally this plant is operated by remote control from the energy center.
