Akimune Sato, Tsuyoshi Tsuchida
Synopsis :
In has long been a challenging problem to automate a marking work required on red-hot slabs for their clear identification which itself is a key factor for improved production control and material handling. At Kawasaki Steel Corporation, a series of studies and experiments started in 1974 based on a unique concept finally bore fruit in December 1977 when its Mizushima Works put into operation a new maker which gave hot slabs white paint markings identifiable 10 meters away. At present, a total of three units are in smooth operation in Japan.
